03 Jan What CES 2013 Will Bring to Technology
An interesting article on VentureBeat on what CES will portent for changes to technology this year.
To summarize:
- More start-up companies with actual physical demonstration products.
This brings a direct benefit to both investors and customers as we can more quickly weed through companies that are unable to deliver on those promises of snazzy new products that will dazzle us all.
- Qualcomm will push for brand recognition in competition with larger electronics companies.
The market always benefits from more competition, especially when you reach the large market share positions of the larger electronic companies.
- Reduced emphasis on tablets and smartphones as the market has stabilized with a few winners.
These devices are rapidly changing the way that we interface with information online. This has to be a win as standards are set and devices become more powerful and easy to use.
- Increased emphasis on touchscreen computers.
Not sure this is a win. It make it difficult on website design as we have to add a new resolution with touchscreen support for more devices.
- Introduction of mirror-less cameras.
Huge changes for photography that will lead to an entire generation of new photographers who are able to shoot better photographs in more and more adverse conditions.
While CES doesn’t directly impact our business in web design and custom software development in Nashville, it does bring changes to the way that we live every day as the devices and technology more easily are used and make our lives better.
